Invest in what matters...Changing lives here in Central Louisiana
"Where does the money go?" The United Way of Central Louisiana provides funding to thirteen member agencies who in turn provide services and programs to nine parishes in our part of the state: Allen (Oakdale area), Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides, Vernon, and Winn. A few of our member agencies also provide services to Natchitoches Parish residents.
UWCL focuses funding on three major areas
- Successful Children
- Strong Families & Adults
- Helping Neighbors through Crisis
In addition, we are focusing on efforts that strengthen our community. One of these is the Guide to Human Services in Central Louisiana, an online database of agencies and congregations serving eleven parishes. The Guide provides all helping professionals — indeed, all citizens — in these parishes with an indispensable tool for finding the right place to help a particular person or family in need. You can find the Guide at http://www.guidetohumanservices.org/.
Did you know?
- The combined square mileage of our parishes is about the same as that of the state of Massachusetts! That's a big responsibility. With a relatively small urban core, that leaves large areas with few available services.
- Each year about one person in five receives help or participates in a program of one of our funded agencies.
- Those who are touched by United Way programs and services are about evenly divided by gender and by race. It's not just for a few people; United Way is there for all of us.
