* The Imagination Library provides books to preschool children under age 5 and is funded through grants and sponsorships. Exact funding depends on the number of children enrolled; at this writing enrollment tops 800 children. To date the program is available to families in Rapides Parish and Avoyelles Parish. United Way of Central Louisiana invites interested potential sponsors from all Cenla parishes to inquire about starting the program in any Cenla parish.
** The Early Childhood Initiative is funded through United Way reserves, grants, and other contributions designated for the purpose.
The above funding is made from undesignated gifts to the United Way. In addition, some donors designate their gifts to specific agencies or areas of interest.
The United Way of Central Louisiana funds services in nine parishes through 17 member agencies. The organization is local and independent, with a local board of 28 people to ensure accountability.Find out more on our Funded Programs link.
