APRIL 22, 2022, BY JAVONTI THOMAS

Calling all anglers! Registration is open for Phins Apparel’s Inaugural Phins Fishing Classic, a multi-state fishing tournament benefiting more than 240 United Ways, including the United Way of Central Louisiana .

The Phins Fishing Classic (PFC), powered by the Fishing Chaos App, will be held remotely across an eight-state region for the first time. PFC will allow anglers in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas to fish in this event for leaderboard prizes and benefit their local United Ways. The PFC tournament will be open from April 9th to May 1st, 2022.

“This is a fun and exciting event that people in all Central Louisiana parishes can take part in. All money raised here in our area for United Way stays here to help our community,” CEO and Executive Director of the United Way of Central Louisiana, Michelle Purl said. “Thank you to Phins Apparel for creating an opportunity for people to give back in a fun, family-friendly way.”

Participants can fish in any water area generally available to the public. This is a catch and release tournament facilitated through the Fishing Chaos App. Participants will register and submit catches via the app.

The freshwater category includes Black Bass, Catfish (Blue, Bullhead, Channel, Flathead and White Catfish) and Crappie (Black and White Crappie). The saltwater category includes Redfish, Snook and Speckled Trout. The third category is High School Black Bass.
