Toni Clegg has called Rapides Parish home since 2016, though she’s originally from a rural town in Vermont. Raised on a small family farm and homeschooled, she’s personally familiar with the challenges many hardworking families in CenLA face. Her career began with a decade in public libraries, along with roles as an instructor for the Encore After School Program and committee member for the Vermont Golden Dome Book Award.
After moving to Louisiana, Toni transitioned fully into early childhood education. She earned her CDA through the Ancillary Certificate Program (LSUA, RECN, NSU) and received training in Conscious Discipline, TSG, and Teachstone’s CLASS. She attended Frog Street’s 2018 Splash Conference and helped implement the infant curriculum into local childcare centers.
With the support of her husband, Thomas, Toni took a two-year leave after their daughter’s birth in 2019. She later returned to the classroom, and in 2023, became Children’s Services Coordinator at Hope House of CenLA, where she provided support for children in transitional housing.
Toni joined United Way of Central Louisiana in 2025 as Education Coordinator. She brings enthusiasm, determination, and a strong sense of purpose rooted in both personal experience and a deep commitment to community care.
